Тема: Спортивні ігри.

Мета: вдосконалювати лексичні и граматичні навички;

Розвиток навичок письма; вдосконалювати навички читання

й усного мовлення; розвивати культуру спілкування й мовленнєву

реакцію учнів; розвивати пам'ять; виховувати зацікавленість у

розширенні  своїх знань і позитивне ставлення до спорту.

1.Опрацювати матеріал.

Do the “Writing point” box, p. 212.

Study the box and answer the questions:

1.      What parts does an introductory paragraph consist of?
2.      What are the features of the general statement?
3.      What are the main parts of a thesis statement?
4.      What are they used for?

2. Reading  

Do ex. 1a, p. 212.

Read the introduction of the essay and identify the general statement(-s), 

the thesis statement(-s). Mark the topic and the controlling idea.

Do ex. 1b, p. 212.

Name the techniques used to attract attention.

3 . Writing

Do ex. 3, p. 213.

Write down the thesis statements for each of the topics. First, 

think about a possible general statement, the topic and the

 controlling idea. Share your ideas with the other students.

6. Reading

Do the “Writing point” box, p. 213.

Study the box and answer the questions:

1.     What parts does a concluding paragraph consist of?

2.     What does a final comment express?

3.     What are the features of a final comment?

4.     What linking words (transitions) can we use for a concluding

paragraph introduction?

 4. Reading 

Do ex. 7a, p. 214–215.

In groups, read the essay and complete it with some of linking 

words placed on flyleaf 1.

Do ex. 7b, p. 215.

In groups, reread the completed essay; then, check and evaluate

 its structure (essay revision checklist on flyleaf 2).

 5. Writing

Do ex. 8, p. 215.

Narrow the topic “Sport” and write an essay about your personal 

experience in this field. Use the materials from the lesson.
